About Us

Melbourne Education Group (MEG) is a fully accredited private provider of training and education.  Established in 1990 through our related entities, we have achieved international acclaim for our series of practical courses that range from entry-level training through to university degrees.

MEG works closely with industry and various professional bodies.  We have formally constituted Course Advisory Panels as part of our linkage with industry to ensure programs are appropriate, reflect contemporary best practice and meet the current local and global needs for a skilled workforce.

We are Quality Assured, a dual winner of the Australian Excellence in Training Award, and regularly provide consultancy services to government, professional associations, public and private entities and the courts.  Principal staff are also active researchers and key-note speakers at conferences internationally.

The peak body within MEG is the Board of Management.  It is responsible for strategic advice on all commercial matters and currently comprises:

  • Professor Haddon Storey QC (independent member and former Attorney-General, Victoria);

  • Professor Bronwyn Naylor (independent member and Professor of Law);

  • Michael Arnold (independent member and former Judge of the Accident Compensation Commission);

  • Jeremy Brown-Greaves (dependent member, accountant and company auditor); and

  • Tony Zalewski (Director).

MEG is proud to be part of the Navitas group.

It is our intention that we maintain a clear point of difference from other higher education and VET providers. Some differences will include:

  • program structures that are attractive to a broader market with specific employment and personal development pathways within identified sectors (locally and abroad);

  • innovative student recruitment and delivery strategies to meet the various needs of students and professional sectors;

  • a strong focus on retention of students in current courses and the first choice in future learning of both current and prospective students; and

  • develop a reputation in Victoria and elsewhere as a 'best value' provider.

Our Organisational Chart provides further information about our structure.

Our Patron

Melbourne Education Group maintains an international focus and has appointed Judge Eugene M. Hyman (California, USA) as its Patron. The Office of Patron is a uniquely important position whereby the Patron provides support and guidance to MEG from an international perspective.

Judge Hyman was a graduate of the University of Santa Clara, California in 1977 and practised as a lawyer specialising in personal injury litigation and criminal law until his first appointment as a Judge of the Santa Clara County Municipal Court in 1990. In 1997, Judge Hyman was elected to the Santa Clara County Superior Court, a Court that is similar in jurisdiction to the Victorian Supreme Court.

Since 1984, Judge Hyman has also lectured in law at the University of Santa Clara, School of Law. He has also taught a number of legal related subjects in other university faculties and also within the Santa Clara County Police Academy.

In 1998, Judge Hyman received the Women's Fund Man of the Year Award for his efforts in domestic violence prevention. In the same year, we brought Judge Hyman to Australia where he addressed various units within Victoria Police and the Victorian Judiciary on domestic violence and substance abuse issues.  He has maintained contact in this area since with a number of visits to Australia and MEG.  Judge Hyman also addressed a recent graduation of our undergraduate students.

Judge Hyman's appointment as Patron of Melbourne Education Group is just one example of our international collaborative approach toward education, a first for any educational institution in Australia.
