Important Information

If you are a prospective international student intending to study in Australia you must apply for a student visa in your resident country before arriving in Australia. To obtain more information about the visa application process, and to apply for a visa, contact the nearest Australian Diplomatic Mission (Embassy, High Commission, Consulate or Consulate - General) addresses available at www.dfat.gov.au/missions/

The general requirements for a student visa are:

  • CRICOS approved course(s) and full-time study load
  • Character
  • General health and health insurance
  • Financial viability
  • Living arrangements

  1. Overseas applicants currently undertaking Year 12 in Victoria - you must also apply through VTAC [www.vtac.edu.au]

  2. Overseas applicants currently studying at tertiary level in Australia; or

  3. Overseas applicants residing in Australia or overseas who are not currently studying but have a minimum education of the equivalent to Victorian Year 12.

Overseas students must be enrolled full-time:
  • bachelor degrees will take a minimum of two years to complete;
  • graduate certificates will take one semester/trimester to complete;
  • graduate diplomas will take one year to complete;
  • vocational education and training (VET) diplomas will take between one to two years to complete;
  • advanced diplomas will take a minimum of two years to complete but longer if packaged; and
  • other courses such as English language or foundation programs will be determined by individual student needs.

    These time frames assume all subjects are passed on the first attempt.

  1. All overseas students must attend our one week Orientation Program before their academic studies commence. Orientation is held immediately before the semester/trimester starts and students must arrive in Australia in time to participate. The Orientation Program will be beneficial in providing students with an understanding of our courses, expectations of students, facilities, services and resources available.

  2. Students must comply with all rules and regulations governing student conduct.
